For one of our clients with whom we’ve had a relationship for over 10 years, we supply silicone products for their baby brand, including silicone bowls, placemats, and toys. Silicone is widely used in baby products due to its unique properties, which make it highly versatile and valuable across various applications. Here are some key properties of silicone materials:

1. Thermal Stability: Silicone materials can withstand a wide range of temperatures, typically from -60°C to 250°C (-76°F to 482°F), making them ideal for both high-temperature and low-temperature applications.

2. Flexibility: Silicone remains flexible and elastic over a broad temperature range, unlike many other materials that can become brittle in extreme conditions.

Main Properties of Silicone Material: Safety

Silicone is renowned for its safety, especially for food contact, chewing, and daily use by children. One of our clients, who sells high chairs, has continually upgraded their products to ensure child safety, replacing materials like wood, fabric, plastic, and even screws. However, they struggled to find a safe material to replace the straps due to limited market options.

Addressing the Challenge

We considered making pure silicone straps, but they couldn’t meet the necessary pulling strength. The solution was to combine silicone with traditional webbing. However, creating silicone-coated webbing proved to be a significant challenge. Over eight years, we developed a new patented silicone material that could be effectively coated on webbing.

Overcoming the Obstacles

The process required meticulous work to ensure uniform thickness, stable tolerance, and sufficient pulling strength. After extensive research and testing, we successfully created silicone-coated webbing that meets all safety standards, including FDA, SGS, and ASTM F963 tests, making it safe even for chewing.
